Wools

Wool is a natural fibre that comes mainly from sheep. It is made from the soft, curly hair (fleece) that grows on the animal and is sheared off, usually once a year, without harming the sheep.

It is widely used to make clothing and textiles because it has excellent insulating properties. Wool keeps you warm in cold weather by trapping air between its fibres, but it can also help regulate temperature so it doesn’t feel overly uncomfortable when conditions change.

The fibre itself is slightly crimped (naturally wavy), which helps it feel soft and springy. It can be spun into yarn and then knitted or woven into items such as jumpers, scarves, blankets, coats, and socks. Different types of wool exist depending on the animal and quality—merino wool, for example, is known for being especially fine and soft.

Wool also has some practical benefits: it can absorb moisture without feeling wet, it resists wrinkles, and it is naturally flame-resistant compared to many synthetic fibres. On the downside, some types can feel itchy on sensitive skin, and wool garments often need careful washing to avoid shrinking or felting.
