Window Net Curtains
Window net curtains are lightweight, semi-transparent curtains typically made from fine woven fabric such as voile, polyester, or cotton blends. They are designed to cover windows while still allowing natural daylight to pass through.
They’re most commonly used in homes where you want a balance between privacy and brightness. From the outside, net curtains blur the view into a room during the day, while inside you can still see out clearly enough to get a sense of what’s happening outside.
In terms of appearance, they often look soft and airy, sometimes plain white or cream, but they can also feature lace-style patterns, embroidered details, or modern minimalist textures. Traditional lace nets are especially common in older or more classic UK homes, while plain voile versions are popular in more modern interiors.
Functionally, net curtains are often hung on a thin rod or wire inside the window recess, either on their own or layered under heavier curtains or blinds. They’re especially common in kitchens, living rooms, and street-facing bedrooms where privacy is needed during the day.
The main advantages are daylight, privacy during daytime, and a light decorative touch. The downside is that they offer little insulation or blackout capability, so they’re usually paired with thicker curtains for night-time use or warmth.
